BACK IN WHACK for Teens PROGRAM

How does the program work?

The Back in Whack for Teens [BiW4Teens] Program helps the teen/tween understand what is out of whack with their body’s energy balance; what they can do to help their body’s energy balance get back in whack; and provides habit change tools which help the youth let go of old unhealthy habits and adopt new healthy habits.  Upon completion of this six-month program, teens/tweens will have adopted long lasting healthy lifestyle and eating habits that will have helped them achieve a healthier weight, a lower BMI and a healthier body. These habits also help youth maintain their healthy weight and healthy body. 

In what ways does the program help support a healthy body?

The program was designed to support healthy growth and development of teen/tween's body and brain. It helps their bodies heal from damage caused by excess weight. Fourteen of the high impact health habits have been proven to help prevent the development of diabetes, heart disease, and certain forms of cancer.

BiW4Teens Program contains 27 interactive health coaching videos paired with a companion workbook.   Together the videos and workbook provide an interactive experience for the teen/tween utilizing the following health coaching methods:

What is in the parents support pack?

The parent support pack gives parents ideas about: 

  • How to be a healthy role model;

  • How to get teen/tween more involved in the kitchen; 
  • How to help their teen/tween get moving more; and 
  • How to get the whole family moving more together.


The parents support pack has a discussion guide to help parents and teens/tweens have productive conversations about each program session. 


There is also a program commitment contract for youth and parents to sign. Changing health habits can be stressful primarily because it is hard to give up unhealthy habits. This contract helps  to increase communication and cooperation, and decrease conflict between teens/tweens and parents during a potentially stressful time.
