Laurie will tell you that she has had a desire to help others live longer healthier happier lives, since she was a young teenager. This desire deepened and motivated her to enroll in nursing school at the University of Wyoming. As a nurse, Laurie was drawn to the specialties of pediatrics and health/nutrition education. In 2013, she returned to college to earn a master’s degree in Health and Nutrition Education from Hawthorn University.
Laurie maintains a Multistate Nursing License, and certifications in Lactation Counseling [CLC], Diabetes Life Coaching, and as a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist [CDCES]. She is a trained Holistic Nutritionist and Christian Health Coach. Laurie is also a 2023 graduate of the Power for Abundant Living - Advanced Biblical Studies Course at The Way International Biblical Research and Teaching Ministry.
Laurie has 34 years of experience working as a health coach and nutrition educator/counselor. A portion of this time was devoted to working as a pediatric nurse and pediatric nutritionist. Laurie was able to build up and support the health of all ages of youth (unborn through teen years) by providing valuable information about health supporting lifestyle habits and nutrition to parents and youth.
Laurie’s work with adults includes: 1) Health promotion to help individuals achieve optimal health (i.e. healthy eating, positive thinking, weight management, etc.); and 2) Chronic disease management. During her career, Laurie has developed over 30 health plans for wide variety chronic health conditions (i.e. heart disease, COPD, anxiety, cancer, arthritis, cognitive decline, etc.), helping hundreds of individuals, living with chronic health conditions, achieve greater levels of health.
Laurie utilizes evidence-based practices and expert guidelines as a foundation for all of her health coaching methods, educational materials, and program curriculums. She has spent countless hours studying the sciences of positive psychology and behavioral change. Laurie effectively utilizes and applies what she has learned. Her approach to health/nutrition counseling empowers her patients, and helps them successfully adopt new self-care habits to achieve greater levels of health.
In 2013, Laurie decided to start her own health and wellness company, Positive Patterns for Life . This company has allowed Laurie to follow her heart’s desire to help individuals take better care of their minds and bodies, and live longer healthier happier lives, utilizing natural interventions (i.e. nutrition, key supplementation, healthy lifestyle habits, positive psychology), and prayer.
